Video editing and captions: add captions, cut the extras
Share a video link and tell your mate what to caption or cut. Download the result from her report.
This pro feature needs separate activation. Contact support to check availability.
Supported languages
Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay (Latin script), and Indonesian.
These are same-language captions. Chinese defaults to Traditional Chinese (Taiwan); ask for Simplified Chinese to convert the text and common terms. Caption translation is not an official feature yet, but she can provide a draft translation for you to check.
Step 1: Hand her the video
- Upload the video to Google Drive.
- Select “Share”, set “General access” to “Anyone with the link”, then select “Copy link”.
- Paste the link and your request in her chat or a connected messaging app:
Add captions to this video. The shop is called “Morning Light Bakery”—please check the spelling. (paste link)
Google Drive folder links also work; say which video to use. You can try a Dropbox file link, but folders are not supported. Don’t drag the video into chat.
Anyone with the link can watch the video. Once she replies with her plan and the download is complete, you can set sharing back to “Restricted”.
Step 2: She tells you her plan and how long it takes
She explains her plan and estimated time before starting. If a cut is unclear, she asks first. Send one video at a time and wait for it to finish before sending the next.
To check the style first, say: “Make a 10-second preview so I can check the caption size and position.” Long videos and iPhone HDR footage may take longer. Check the colors after HDR conversion.
Step 3: Get the result and approve it
- Open her report link or find it under Reports on your dashboard. If asked, use your usual dashboard sign-in.
- Caption jobs include an MP4 video and an SRT caption file. Editing jobs include the trimmed video.
- Watch the result, check names and numbers, then request changes or approve a version: “v02 is good.” Technical checks do not replace your approval.
Give the time and fix: “Make the captions bigger. At 0:11, change the line to ‘three days only’.” She keeps the old version and makes a new one. Style-only changes leave the text and timing unchanged.
One-off changes do not become defaults. When she asks after delivery whether to save the style, reply “always do it this way”. Defaults are saved by language and orientation; Traditional and Simplified Chinese share the Chinese defaults.
Editing and other limits
For cuts, say: “Remove the ums. At 1:20, keep only the second take.” To add captions or cutaways afterward, approve the trimmed version and send it as a new video.
For image or video cutaways and image-only shorts, see Video B-roll cutaways. Animated captions, background music for talking videos and timeline editing are not available. Download and publish the result yourself.
Common questions
The link fails, the job stops, or the download is missing?
- Video link won’t open: check that “Anyone with the link” is enabled.
- Job won’t start or stops: follow her instructions to wait, retry or split a long video. If the same cause stops it twice, contact support.
- Finished video, missing link: ask her to “resend the report and download link for v02, without remaking it”. If that fails, give support the version and error message.
What about privacy and backups?
Videos stay on your host and are not automatically made public or posted. Screenshots and text go to your chosen AI model for visual and caption checks. You manage the original file and sharing settings in your cloud drive.
Download videos and captions you want to keep. Cleanup of large temporary files preserves source videos, captions and delivered versions. It is not a backup or a download-link expiry date.
